It’s the Year of the Tiger 虎年, according to the Chinese zodiac calendar. Roar! May this be a prosperous year for you!

Some popular wishes to say when you first greet someone after New Year’s:

恭禧發財(gung hay fat choy) Wishing you happiness and prosperity.

身體健康 (sun tei geen hong) – May you have good health.

心想事成 (sum serng see sing) – May you accomplish the desires of your heart.

Tigers are independent, brave, and extremely bold. In honor of the Year of the Tiger, why not try new foods and new restaurants? Why depend on someone else to tell you whether something tastes good or not? Be independent and take the risk to try it out yourself. I do that on a daily basis.

Sometimes a shiny new product at the grocery store, jumps off the shelf and lands into my cart. And I accept the challenge, to try something new. 8 out of 10 times, I discover a new favorite food that I write about here.

Let’s look back on my Chinese New Year experience 3 years ago! I tried some dim sum 點心 at Tai Wu Restaurant in Daly City. What an awesome way to begin the new year!
