I just got back from beautiful Fort Bragg, CA for our first anniversary getaway. Fort Bragg is along the coast in Mendocino county, just 2 hours north of Santa Rosa. I will include all of the places we ate at. I love this little town.
First off, a great place for freshly made, boxed raw food meals is Living Light Cuisine Cafe, located inside the historic Company Store (a must see spot). It is an extension of Living Light Culinary Arts Institute, which is located upstairs from the cafe. Connected to the Living Light Cuisine Cafe is the Living Light Marketplace, where you can buy blenders, juicers, kitchen tools, water distillers as well as hard to find health foods like dried kombu.
I dropped by to pick up a box of zucchini angel hair pasta with marinara sauce and nori sushi rolls. I had these 2 entrees last year and couldn’t wait to cleanse myself again with these raw food dishes. If you’re on a low carb diet, you’ll love the zucchini angle hair pasta. The texture and curly shape of the zucchini actually tricks you into thinking you’re eating noodles.
The nori sushi rolls are made with absolutely no rice. They use thin strips of cucumber to fake the texture of rice. The sushi is made of “not tuna”, carrots, red bell peppers, spinach, and avocado and comes with a kombu seaweed salad. Doesn’t this look yummy and healthy?
